MBVS Fig Cuttings Round #2 Shipping This Week!

The next round of rooted MBVS fig cuttings will be shipping out this week! Getting the packaging done now.

Look at the roots on these guys!

Got 2 little figgies here.  Dave and Brandi's is doing great.  We re-potted almost 2 weeks ago and it seems very happy.  Mom and my little figgie is crying all the way home.  It still has 2 green buds, but is not doing anything.  Guess it is just mostly dead.  Any suggestions other than going thru it's pockets for loose change?

MBVS Rooting Update #2

Just checked the cuttings that I started rooting a couple of weeks ago (see MBVS Rooting Update) and they looking really good. But look closely at the ones on the left.

McGee the Fig Tree

In all the whole town, the most wonderful spot
is in Mike's apartment, in his window with lots
of light coming through, for young Figger McGee.
I just need to up-pot, to turn into a tree.

Stagnation?

 

So, it seems like our Figgy is hibernating?  Still green, vibrant and lush but no new leaves and the bud in the middle hasn't opened it. Thoughts?

Joel kept pushing me to pot her, and I think he was right.  I wish I got this much sunlight....as I sit here in this gray, windowless cubicleland.

MBVS Rooting Update

I am in the process of rooting a bunch of other stuff right now and decided to check on the MBVS cuttings. They look great and have already started to put out root initials. (I would say 3/4 of cuttings are in this stage right now). These little white bumps are where the roots will push out of. In a week or two there will be little baby roots all over.

Happy 2016 Figsters!  Thank you Mark for your inspiration and dedication to the Fig Project! I never thought I would be one to "garden" since I've murdered every living chlorophyll life form ever to step near me. But something is different this time around!  I look forward to seeing it every morning and it's been an awesome experience!  It's not only alive but THRIVING!!! 

Love seeing everyone's baby figs and let's keep this going and rolling!  My favorite pic is the 2nd one with the new bud coming in.

Happy New Year!

This will be a good start to the year of the fig. Dad passed along the request from Sue and Pam to be included in the year of the fig. So I went onto the fig forums and was able to buy a nice sized bundle of MBVS cuttings (thanks FiggyFrank!). They got in yesterday, so I gave them a good cleaning, sterilizing, wrapping and dipped with rooting hormone. They are ready to go into the Coco coir!

This will be enough for the Pettit and Barton extended families. And if I get a large number of takes (I got 100% with the last batch of MBVS) then we will have plenty of spares.
